In my junior year, I took Aerospace Engineering. In Aerospace, we studied the physics and dynamics of how planes and rockets fly. In a simulation program, I have theoretically learned how to fly a plane by controlling the mechanisms and mechanics and using VORs to navigate.
For this project, we were tasked with designing a glider that could successfully glide across the gym at the school. We had to construct it out of balsa wood and light wood glue.
Disclaimer: There aren't any photos or video of the actual flights. This is due to my school banning all phones from being used in school, even if its for educational purposes.
Our hovercraft project was designed to carry a grown person across a gym floor. It was a team effort and I was the Engineering Manager for this project.
We were successful, multiple times in a row and beat the other teams - having the fastest time, just above 6 seconds.
